Tracking and Bird LanguageOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is your chance to begin to see and hear the world in a different way, through the eyes and ears of the animals that inhabit it! With the help of our specialist expert Dan Puplett you will learn to read the signs an animal leaves as it moves through the environment, recognise the tracks of different animals and begin to understand how and why animals might behave.

Alongside the tracking element of the course we also offer an immersion into the birdlang1field of bird language. You are probably aware that different species of birds have different songs and calls, but now you can begin to understand the meaning behind them. Learn to recognise the difference between a predator alert call and a territorial call. This workshop will also heighten your awareness of how acute birds are to the sounds in their environment and the impact your human presence may have within it.

Foraging and Nature Based Games trackingim1

Foraging can be a highly rewarding way to engage with nature. As we learn to recognise the species with practical (and best of all edible!) uses, we begin to realise that they have a direct value to our lives- after all, all our food, clothes, and resources come from nature!

This October we have organised a workshop aimed at training teachers and trackingonbeach (1)teaching assistants, forest school practitioners and anyone working with young people where we will look at foraging and nature based games.

We aim to equip practitioners to safely inspire young people to build their own knowledge of plants, whilst considering important risks and benefits of foraging. The training will link plant-based activities to the curriculum, teach tried and tested plant crafts and games and teach how practitioners should create appropriate risk assessments for such activities.
