Sweet Chestnut Bark Basketry

Come and join me in a beautiful ancient woodland in East Sussex for a day of harvesting, processing and weaving sweet chestnut bark.

Enjoy the whole process of making a beautiful basket or container from scratch, i.e. from tree to basket in one day. You will learn about the best time for harvesting, how to dry and prepare the materials and what other types of bark and other materials you can use as well. This course is aimed at beginners so no special skills are required however it is a very hands on practical course so may prove difficult for anyone struggling with using their hands. More experienced weavers that want to learn more about the material may want be more creative in their basketry!

All tools and equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own bushcraft type knife if you want. Tea and coffee provided.
