Unit 3: Social & Emotional and Spiritual Development
We are aiming to support the whole person at Forest School.
We want young people to be happy, healthy and be able to live a satisfying life. To support self esteem and emotional literacy, we have to be able to do this for ourselves first. Young people will model their behaviour and language on what they see adults doing and saying.
What supports your self esteem and helps you to share what you are feeling? How do you get your needs met? It’s healthy to have a range of emotions, to be able to self regulate and communicate your feelings in order to meet your needs.
Showing our own vulnerability and not having the answers, is often the best way to having an authentic relationship with a young person. This includes holding clear boundaries that are respected, while listening and acknowledging the range of feelings that may exist.
